The place where Russian Army crossed Vorskla

After successful completion of negotiations Tsar Peter I arrived to his headquarters deployed in the hamlet Krytoi Bereg on the left bank of Vorskla river.

St. Sampsoniy sepulchral church

On day after the battle Peter I issued an order to build two churches in the name of St. Sampsoniy, whose name-day is celebrated on the 27th of June – the day of the battle. One of these churches was erected in St. Petersburg and another one was supposed to be built in Poltava.
