St. Sampsoniy sepulchral church

On day after the battle Peter I issued an order to build two churches in the name of St. Sampsoniy, whose name-day is celebrated on the 27th of June – the day of the battle. One of these churches was erected in St. Petersburg and another one was supposed to be built in Poltava.

Poltava Churches

Troitskyi church Troitskyi church was built in 1780 in baroque style in the historic center of the village. It was visited presumably by Cossacks. This church characterizes the church construction during the periods of its transformation from baroque to classicism.
